Angela Jones

Angela Jones became a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger in 1981 and has managed the Honolulu District, Pacific Regional Visitor Center since January 2009.

Angela earned a BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA in 1980. While attending college, she worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a student aide and after graduation she stayed in Atlanta and worked at Ft. McPherson Military Base, in data entry.

Shortly after visiting USACE’s Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake Project, she began her career path with the Corps in the project’s Construction Division, where she quickly developed an interest in becoming a Park Ranger. Shadowing a ranger from the Natural Resource Management Office on her weekends, the service, the interaction with guests, the uniform, and the badge proved to be exactly what she was looking to achieve in a career.

Angela worked for the Savannah District from 1981-2009 where she was able to pursue her interpretative interest and refine her skills. She also worked for the Hartwell Dam and Lake Project and cross-trained at the J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake Project.

As part of the Honolulu District team, Angela coordinates volunteer events, meets with visiting schools and greets guests from around the world, sharing the Corps story and purpose.
