U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and contractor David Boland LLC personnel participated in a Hawaiian site blessing Nov. 28, officially starting the construction for the first phase of the new 25th Infantry Division (25th ID) Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) Complex. Hawaiian Cultural Practitioner Keone Nunes led the Hawaiian blessing of contracting workers and the work site. More than 60 personnel from CAB phase one contractor David Boland LLC, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Honolulu District, Schofield Barracks’ Directorate of Public Works as well as military representatives from the 25th ID CAB and U.S. Pacific Command attended the ceremony. This $54 million infrastructure project will support a total of 16 additional phases required to complete the entire $1 Billion CAB complex. Construction of this project will support the new CAB barracks that is scheduled to be awarded by the Corps in FY13 and constructed concurrently so both projects will be commissioned in 2015

U.S. Army Chaplain Capt. John Smith led the site blessing and reminded the participants of the importance of spiritual values in conducting their work and invoked Divine Providence to protect all the workers and Soldiers as they proceed. Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii and contractor NAN Inc. performed a site blessing for the renovation of Quad D at Schofield Barracks Sept. 14. Quad D houses the famous 27th Infantry Regiment - “The Wolfhounds.”
