Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Program Analyst in the Civil Works Branch Justina Vantassel spearheaded and District Council Shivaun White got the opportunity for a hands on lesson on the Japanese tradition of Origami making May 15. The class was part of Spirit Week, dedicating a day to each of the different cultures of the Asian Pacific American heritage. The goal of Origami is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques.
