Army Corps Awards Contract for New Schofield Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing Facility

FORT SHAFTER, HI -- Absher Construction Company Inc., Puyallup, Wash., was awarded a $35,275,888 firm-fixed-price contract on June 30, 2011.

The award will provide for the design and construction of an unaccompanied enlisted personnel housing facility for 228 personnel at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii. Work will be performed in Oahu, Hawaii, with a performance period of 731 calendar days.

Twenty bids were solicited, with three bids received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District, Hawaii, is the contracting activity (W9128A-11-C-0011).

Absher Construction Company Inc., which has an office in Honolulu, Hawaii, anticipates that portions of the project will be subcontracted to firms on Oahu, providing jobs to local workers.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District is committed to provide high quality housing for the nation’s Soldiers.
