Army Corps invites public comment on shoreline protection plan at Ofu Airport

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Honolulu District, in partnership with the American Samoa Department of Port Administration (DPA) is announcing the release of a Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (IFR/EA) which identifies a proposed plan for shoreline protection at the Ofu Airport in American Samoa.

WMA Restoration Advisory Board meeting scheduled May 23

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), managing restoration efforts at the Former Waikoloa Maneuver Area (WMA), South Kohala, Island of Hawaii, will provide a status update regarding ongoing environmental investigations and restoration activities at the next WMA Restoration Advisory Board meeting, or RAB.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Honolulu District completed an Engineering Documentation Report Aug. 6 that provides the new recommended plan for the Ala Wai Flood Control Project.

Honolulu District hydraulic engineer named 2019 USACE Climate Champion Award winner

Honolulu District’s Jessica Podoski, a hydraulic engineer in the Civil Works Technical Branch, Engineering and Construction Division, is the national U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Climate Champion of 2019 award winner for her work in preparing climate change and resilience studies in the Pacific Region. In a May 12 email announcing the award, Kathleen White, chair of the USACE Headquarters Climate Preparedness & Resilience (CPR) Community of Practice (CoP) said of Podoski that, “…Individually and as team members on other projects, you have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, creativity, innovation, and leadership in incorporating climate preparedness and resilience into your projects, and exemplify the best of the USACE.”
