Pago Pago to Nuuuli

The Pago Pago to Nuuuli area is located on the southern coast of the island of Tutuila, American Samoa.  The project was authorized in February 1977 under Section 103a of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1962. It was constructed in 1978 at a total cost of $706,667 (Federal: $394,187; non-Federal: $312,480).

The project provides protection along 1,000 feet on the south side of Niuloa Point fronting Fatumafuti Village and 875 feet fronting Matuu Village. A two-lane coastal road is the only land connection between villages, commercial and agricultural activities, and public facilities and services on Tutuila's south shore. The road also links Pago Pago Airport with Pago Pago - the center of government and commerce. The local sponsor is the American Samoa Government.
