HONOLULU, Hawaii (Feb. 9, 2019) -- Honolulu District employee volunteers gather and sort student test sheets during the 2019 MATHCOUNTS Oahu competition held at the Kamehameha Schools Feb. 9. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders from 27 Oahu public and private schools participated in the competition. MATHCOUNTS builds skills, promotes strategic problem solving and challenges students to sharpen their analytical abilities in a lively exchange of mathematical ideas through competition. Honolulu District has actively supported this outreach activity for the past 21 years. The winners of this competition advanced to the state level competition held March 9 at Kamehameha Schools for a chance to represent the State of Hawaii in May at the national finals in Orlando, Fla. Honolulu District employees will also be volunteering their time as proctors and scorers for the state competition.
