Lt. Col. Joseph (Joe) Kendall is the Deputy Commander for the Honolulu District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Kendall is from Onawa, Iowa and commissioned into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in May 2007.
He previously served as the Operations Officer for the 18th Military Police Brigade and Operations Officer for the 15th Engineer Battalion in Vilseck and Grafenwoehr Germany. Kendall was the Commander of Alpha Company and Headquarters Company for the 4-1 Brigade Special Troops Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas.
He also served as the Executive Officer and Route Clearance Platoon Leader in Alpha Company 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Kendall served three combat deployments to Afghanistan supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Resolute Support and one operational deployment to Kosovo in Support of Operations Allies Refuge and Welcome.
Kendall holds a Bachelor’s Degree in American History from the United States Military Academy, a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, a Master’s Degree in Business and Administration from the University of Nebraska, and a Master’s Degree in Military Operational Art from the School of Advanced Military Studies.
His military education includes graduation from the School of Advanced Military Studies, the Command and General Staff College, Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Airborne School and Basic Military Mountaineering.
Kendall’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (5), Humanitarian Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (3 Stars), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge.
Kendall is married and has three children.
