Earth Day 2013: Ohana Volunteers Preserve the ‘aina
Corps Park Ranger Don Espaniola (foreground, standing) leads a team of Earth Day volunteers in planting shrubs in front of the Corps’ Pacific Regional Visitor Center. Approximately 20 volunteers from the Punahou Junior ROTC program (which includes cadets from other area high schools and some home-schooled students) and Corps’ employees and family members joined forces April 27 to clean up the beach and berm area and plant decorative plants (photo below, right) provided by the Hale Koa Hotel at the Corps’ Pacific Regional Visitor Center at Fort DeRussy in Waikiki.
