Agat Shoreline Protection Sec. 14

The Agat (Hagat) Shoreline Protection Project is currently in the feasibility study phase. The study area is located on the west central coast of Guam in the village of Agat and is authorized by Section 14 of the Flood Control Act of 1946, as amended. This authority allows for the planning and construction of emergency stream bank and shoreline protection projects for public facilities in imminent danger of failing. The Non-Federal Sponsor is the Government of Guam.

The Corps is investigating alternatives to protect the municipal government headquarters of Agat which is under threat of coastal erosion. This collection of buildings located along approximately 450 feet of shoreline includes the mayor’s office, emergency shelter and evacuation facility, post office, and community gathering space. A Feasibility Cost Share Agreement (FCSA) was executed in February 2023.
