Fort Shafter, Hawaii -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District welcomed new leadership Friday, June 24 as Lt. Col. Ryan Pevey assumed command from Lt. Col. Eric S. Marshall during a modified change of command ceremony being held at Fort Shafter’s Palm Circle Gazebo.
Lt. Col. Pevey, who most recently served as the 25th Infantry Division Engineer at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, is the 73rd commander in the District's 117 year history.
The incoming commander will oversee a 350-plus person workforce of engineers, scientists and support staff serving the Pacific Region, including Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Kwajalein. Honolulu District is responsible for major military design and construction, civil works, international and interagency support, real estate services to the Army and Air Force, regulatory work, environmental services and emergency management.
Lt. Col. Pevey holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science Administration, Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He was commissioned into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2004.
Traditionally, a unit’s colors are passed during a change of command ceremony to represent the official transfer of leadership and responsibility from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander. Reviewing officer for the ceremony is Brig. Gen. Kirk Gibbs, commander, Pacific Ocean Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Lt. Col. Marshall will retire following 20 years of service to the U.S. Army.
