Corps of Engineers Awards American Samoa Contract

FORT SHAFTER, HI -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District has awarded a contract of $2,488,880.00 to Trade West Construction, Inc., Mesquite, NV for the Cyclone Repair of Route 118 Utulei Landslide, Island of Tutuila, American Samoa.

Contract W9128A-11-C-0008 is being done on behalf of the American Samoa Government, Department of Public Works and consists of repair of the landslide area resulting from Cyclone Heta that overlooks a portion of Route 118 in the vicinity of Samoana High School, Utulei, American Samoa.

Project repairs include site clearing and grading; stabilization of the slope face by installing an anchored wire mesh system of approximately 43,000 sq. ft.; installation of a shotcrete apron (concrete conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface) on the upper face of the slope for erosion protection; construction of a concrete cantilever slab; and miscellaneous utility replacements.

Performance period for the work is 360 days after the notice to proceed.
