Corps of Engineers Joins ABMC, VA and DLNR to Break Ground for the Vietnam Pavilions Project at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl
Leaders from the Corps of Engineers joined officials from the American Battle Monuments Commission, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and others to break ground for the new Vietnam Pavilions Project at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl on May 9.

DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation and Corps of Engineers to Terminate Navigation Improvement Project for Ma`alaea Small Boat Harbor
Based on careful consideration of the implementation costs, regulatory requirements and other concerns expressed by the community, the navigation improvement project for the Ma`alaea Small Boat Harbor has been terminated by the project sponsors. The project involved investigation of harbor improvements to address navigational safety and surge-related problems in Ma`alaea Harbor. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) was the Federal sponsor, and the State of Hawai`i Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) was the non-Federal sponsor.

The Honolulu District-based 565th Engineer Detachment, Forward Engineer Support Team-Advance (FEST-A) held a Deployment Casing Ceremony April 24 at Fort Shafter’s Palm Circle to mark its official deployment to support Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Army Corps, Army Garrison Break Ground on New Schofield Barracks Warriors in Transition Complex
With the turning of soil by seven Hawaiian `O'o sticks on Monday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii and contractor Nordic PCL Construction, Inc. officials broke ground on a new $59.085 million Warriors in Transition barracks and complex during a traditional Hawaiian site blessing ceremony.

Army Corps Awards Task Order to Construct Vietnam Pavilions at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District recently awarded a task order construction contract to build new pavilions for the Honolulu Memorial at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl to Innovative-Mira Joint Venture (IM JV LLC) of Aiea, Oahu for $4,144,500.00.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District recently awarded a contract for the FY11 PN65650 USARPAC Command and Control Facility, Phase 1, Fort Shafter, Hawaii, to Niking Corp, Wahiawa, Hawaii for $46,780,000.

Army Corps, Garrison Break Ground on New Barracks for Schofield’s HHBN Soldiers
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii and contractor Absher Construction officials broke ground on a new $35.3 million barracks during a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony Feb. 23.

More than 200 members of Hawaii's engineering community, including engineers from the Honolulu District, will gather at the Hale Koa's Banyan Tree Showroom Feb. 21 for a luncheon to kick off Engineers Week 2012, which runs Feb. 19 to 25.
