    FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii (Sept. 14, 2018) -- Michael F. Wong has been selected as Honolulu District’s new Chief, Environmental Branch, Programs and Project Management Division. Wong previously held the job of Chief, Civil Works Technical Branch in the Engineering and Construction Division at Honolulu District.
  • Honolulu District activates EOC, response teams for storms

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers- Honolulu District activated its Emergency Operation Center Sept. 6, 2018, in support of the response to Typhoon Mangkhut that ravaged the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Hurricane/Tropical Storm Olivia that is heading for landfall in the eastern Hawaiian Islands. USACE is working in partnership with the local, state, and federal response in preparation for Hurricane/Tropical Storm Olivia. USACE has more than 100 personnel engaged and coordinating with local, state and Federal Emergency Management Agency partners on the Hawaiian Islands and CNMI.
  • Safety Outreach for Makapu’u Lighthouse and Rabbit and Kaohekaipu Islands

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District will be sharing safety information about Formerly Used Defense Sites, also known as FUDS, and the 3Rs of Explosives Safety (Recognize, Retreat, Report) for the Makapu’u Lighthouse area and Rabbit and Kaohekaipu Islands. Visitors to the booth will learn how to stay safe on land and in the water if they encounter potential munitions by following the 3Rs. The Honolulu District will be handing out 3Rs safety materials (pictured on back) and children can participate at the coloring station.

    Public invited to watershed management information meeting in west Maui

    The Honolulu District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), partnering with the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources’ (DLNR) Division of Aquatic Resources, will provide an update on the West Maui Watershed Management Study at the Ridge 2 Reef Initiative (R2R) public meeting Aug. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center, 198 Fleming Road Lahaina, Hawaii.
