Interested parties are hereby notified that an application has been received for a Department of the Army (DA) permit for certain work in waters of the United States (U.S.) as described below and shown on the attached drawings.

LOCATION: In Saipan Lagoon at the west terminus of Chalan Hagoi, Lot No. 058 H 02, Susupe, Island of Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (15.15142°N, 145.69949°E). See the enclosed figures for additional information regarding project location.
PROPOSED ACTIVITY: The Department of Public Works (DPW) proposes to dredge 7,354 cubic yards (cy) of accreted sand from 0.68-acres of Saipan Lagoon to restore small vessel access around the boat ramp, excavate and dredge 5,550 cy of material from 0.48-acres to remove the damaged Sugar Dock, and discharge 9,105 cy of material to reconstruct Sugar Dock at the same location and to the same basic design. DPW also proposes to discharge 306 cy of material into 0.04-acres of Saipan Lagoon to construct a low-profile jetty on the north side of the boat ramp to capture or redirect sand carried in the longshore current. Lastly, DPW proposes to conduct maintenance dredging in up to 0.68-acres over the next ten years, as needed, to maintain small vessel access to the public boat ramp.
