  • Army Corps, Army Garrison-Hawaii Participate in Groundbreaking for Phase 2 of CAB Complex

    Representatives from the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii Directorate of Public Works, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and contractor Nan-Samsung LLC personnel participated in a Hawaiian groundbreaking and site blessing March 18 on the south side of the Wheeler airstrip, officially starting the construction for the second phase of the 25th Infantry Division (25th ID) Combat Aviation Brigade Complex (CAB).

  • Honolulu District Engineers Participate in 2015 National Engineers Week Activities

    More than 200 engineers and friends of the 17 organizations within the Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies plus invited local VIPs and dignitaries and engineers from the Honolulu District are expected to gather at the Hale Koa's Banyan Tree Showroom Feb. 24 for a luncheon to kick off Engineers Week 2015, which runs Feb. 22-28. The 2015 Engineers Week theme is “Discover Engineering!” and the local theme is “sustainability.”

  • Army Corps, 2nd Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment “Wolfhounds” Reopen Renovated Quad D Barracks

    Honolulu District officials and Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment "Wolfhounds" gathered in the center of historic Quad D at Schofield Barracks Jan. 23 for a ribbon cutting ceremony, which officially reopened two barracks renovated by the Corps of Engineers.

  • Honolulu District Continues Support to Army, Pacific Region in 2014

    During 2014 highly motivated U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Honolulu District staff supported military construction at Hawaii Army posts with the District completing 16 projects including three unaccompanied enlisted personnel housing units – one each at Schofield Barracks, Helemano Military Reservation, and Tripler Army Medical Center - and the Warriors in Transition Barracks and Complex at Schofield. Lt. Col. Christopher W. Crary became the 69th commander of the District.

  • This week in history: Army Engineers fought and lived through the attack on Pearl Harbor

    Seven December 1941 was the opening scene of World War II, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was there. At 7:55 a.m., two waves of Japanese warplanes from a naval task force about 250 miles north of Hawaii appeared over Oahu. Some headed for American warships at Pearl Harbor and the planes on the ground at nearby Hickam Field; others hit Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Field, and Bellows Field. The Corps of Engineers in Hawaii consisted of Soldier-engineers in the Army's Hawaiian Department, and the Corps' Honolulu Engineer District, then part of the South Pacific Division.

  • Honolulu District Awards $315.1Million in FY14 Contracts in Hawaii, Pacific Region

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District recently completed a very successful Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) during which 569 contract actions were awarded totaling $315,114,308.00

  • Corps of Engineers, Community Clean-up Fort DeRussy for National Public Lands Day

    More than 40 volunteers picked up trash at Fort DeRussy in Waikiki in honor of National Public Lands Day and International Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 20. The Corps of Engineers’ Regional Visitor Center (RVC) coordinated the event which was supported by Corps employees, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Punahou Junior ROTC cadets.

  • Cadet District Engineer Program Offers Hands-On USACE Experience

    The Honolulu District hosted two U.S. Army cadets this summer as part of the Cadet District Engineer Program (CDEP). This program allows West Point and ROTC Cadets an opportunity to gain first-hand construction and engineering experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

  • Honolulu District Partners with USCG, FEMA, and Hawaii Civil Defense in Response to Hurricane Iselle

    In response to Hurricane Iselle, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District fielded multiple assets to assist the U.S. Coast Guard, Hawaii State Civil Defense, FEMA, and other federal, state, and local agencies. The Honolulu District, working with our local and federal partners, jointly conducted an underwater survey in Hilo Harbor on Aug. 8, and ensured there were no channel obstructions.
