  • 565th Eng. Det. Teams with Baltimore FEST-A at Key Resolve 2011

    Honolulu District’s 565th Engineer Detachment Forward Engineer Support Team-Advance (FEST-A) joined forces with Baltimore District’s FEST-A (71st Eng. Det.) at the 2011 Key Resolve exercise in South Korea to develop a preliminary contingency bed down plan for use in potential future U.S. forces missions. Held in conjunction with the annual field exercise Foal Eagle, Key Resolve is a command post exercise that enables the Republic of Korea-U.S. alliance to hone the skills needed to deter aggression against South Korea or to fight and win, if necessary.
  • Honolulu District Civilian Employee to Receive Prestigious National Award

    Kris Young, who serves as the executive administrative assistant to the chief of the Engineering and Construction Division at the District, will receive the Federal Asian Pacific American Council’s Excellence in Individual Achievement award during the 26th FAPAC National Leadership Training Conference held May 9 to 13.
  • Community Organizations, the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hold the first America’s Great Outdoors Event in Hawaii

    In order to promote President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors initiative, the Nature Conservancy of Hawaii (TNC); community group Kāko’o Ōiwi; the UH Institute of Marine Biology; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy and leaders of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers held Hawaii’s first ever America’s Great Outdoors Event at Heeia Wetland adjacent to Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, March 17, 2011.
  • Hannan Takes Command of Army Corps’ 565th Engineering Detachment

    Maj. William C. Hannan Jr. became the second commander of the Honolulu District-based 565th Engineer Detachment, Forward Engineer Support Team-Advance (FEST-A) March 18 during a change of command ceremony held at Fort Shafter Flats on Oahu.
  • District Awards $37M Contract for Schofield Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District, awarded a $37,872,000 contract Feb. 25 to Walsh RMA Joint Venture from Chicago, Ill., for a fiscal year 2010 project to build a 57,031 sq. ft. tactical equipment maintenance facility on Schofield Barracks.
  • District Awards ADA Chairlift Contract for Punchbowl

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District, awarded a $945,000 Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) Jan. 25 to TOP Pacific Builders, LLC, an 8(a) contractor from Aiea, Hawaii., for a fiscal year 2010 project to install four chairlifts along the eastern side of the American Battle Monuments Commission Honolulu Memorial within the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl to facilitate American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant access to the entire monument.
  • District Engineers to Join 2011 Engineer Week Activities

    More than 150 members of Hawaii's engineering community, including engineers from the Honolulu District, will gather at the Hale Koa's Banyan Tree Showroom Feb. 22 for a luncheon to kick off Engineers Week 2011, which runs Feb. 20 to 26.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and TAMC Warrior Transition Battalion Sign Memorandum of Agreement to assist Wounded Warriors

    Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District Commander Lt. Col. Douglas Guttormsen and Warrior Transition Battalion Commander Lt. Col. David Weisberg recently signed a memorandum of agreement to implement a Work Re-Integration Volunteer Program for Soldiers at the Tripler Army Medical Center’s Warrior Transition Battalion at Schofield Barracks.
  • PAKISTAN RECOVERY: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Major Helps Pakistan Recover from Its Worst Monsoon

    In July 2010, monsoon rains of historical magnitude caused catastrophic flooding throughout Pakistan. Approximately one-fifth of the country was submerged by floodwaters. The flood wiped out livestock, homes, crops, and critical infrastructure (roads, bridges, railways, etc.).
