The Pago Pago Airport Shore Protection Project is located on the island of Tutuila, American Samoa.  The project was authorized under Section 14 of the Flood Control Act of 1946. The Department of Public Works, American Samoa Government is the local sponsor and owner, responsible to operate and maintain the project. The project is in the operations and maintenance phase.

The project was constructed in 1980 at a cost of $289,080 (Federal: $250,000; non-Federal: $39,080).  The project consists of 2,700 feet of rock revetment along the eastern length of the main runway with a crest elevation of +7.5 feet mean sea level.  A second section was authorized under Section 14 and constructed in 1984 on the eastern length of the main runway adjacent to the first section and consists of 1,550 feet of rock revetment, with a crest elevation +8.0 feet.

Annual inspections are conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the American Samoa Government to ensure the project is performing as intended.

Pago Pago Airport is the only international airport on the island of Tutuila, American Samoa.
